Job description: Individuals in this role offer advice to clients, ranging from individuals to specialist groups or companies, regarding the acquisition of financial services and products like investments, insurance, mortgages, and pensions.

Entry requirements: There are no stringent academic prerequisites, but typically, entrants possess GCSEs/S grades, and occasionally, a degree in a pertinent subject may be necessary. In-house training might be provided, or candidates could attend courses organized by professional institutions. Registration with a regulatory authority may be mandatory for certain positions.

Tasks:

    • Forecast the potential short-term and long-term performance of securities and other financial products to determine suitable investments for clients.
    • Assess the financial standing of clients, considering expenditures, dependents, and obligations.
    • Provide advice on the best pension schemes, insurance policies, and mortgages tailored to clients’ specific circumstances.
    • Monitor socio-economic environment information and deduce its implications for clients.
    • Create summary reports detailing findings for fund managers.
    • Stay updated with financial products, legislation, and compliance requirements as per the relevant regulatory authority.
    • Attract new clientele by organizing visits and elucidating the advantages of financial products.
